This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Bill List who was born on January 7, 1958 and left us for Heaven on September 10, 1995. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.

Bill was known as “Bucky” during his younger years, because as a baby when his PaPaw saw him, he said "Well, that's a little buckaroo, isn't he?"

Losing his father when Bill was 1 year old, he grew very close to Mom, Janie.  Bill was the spitting image of his Dad.  Mom and Bill were kindred spirits and took-on the world together many times during the rest of his life.

For several years Bill was hospitalized and bed-ridden with a hip disease.  He was a go-getter and did not let it keep him down.  Within a few years of recovery he was cruising on his Stingray bike (with a banana seat!) and skateboarding.  He was a natural athlete and became very involved in sports.  In elementary and junior high school, he played baseball and basketball in high-school. He loved extreme sports even before they were labeled with that title. From the time he first got his driver’s license he always drove fast muscle cars and motorcycles.  He also loved scuba diving.

As Bill’s sister, I can say we had the typical sibling rivalry for many years, and mischievously did our best to get each other into trouble.  One thing I will always remember about him is that he stood up for me so many times and protected me on more than one occasion.  Times that only we knew about.  I always looked at him as my Big, little brother.

Growing up in Oklahoma, Bill spent many summers at our Granny’s farm.  He loved the country life, fishing, playing with his dog, Sport, helping Granny with her gardens, wandering the backwoods acreage.  Later, as a teen in Tennessee, he enjoyed more country life.  He worked at a gas station and worked summers in the strawberry and tobacco fields.  He was always an enterprising worker-bee and from an early age had several paper routes to fund his next adventure!

Bill served in the US Air Force after high school.  It was an experience that turned him from a wild teenager spirit into a disciplined young man.  He still had his spunk, but he grew up a lot.  Bill was a man of principles and integrity and he would defend what was right to the end.

Bill was very intelligent in electronics and computers.  It provided him the opportunity to work for global companies and do a lot of traveling.  And he experienced working on and flying in the most high-tech aircraft.  It inspired him to get his pilot's license and buy his own plane – an aerobatic plane.  He said his happiest times were when he was flying.

Married to wife, Pam, above all else in the world, Bill loved his sweet baby girl, Nikki.  She was the apple of his eye and he would do anything for her.  He watched over her like an eagle and they had such a special life in their short time together.  We believe Nikki carries forth his fireball, go-for-the-gusto approach to life!

Bill had fiery red hair and beautiful blue eyes… great sense of humor and a sensitive heart.

We love and miss you, Bill!  We will never understand why you were taken from us so soon.  You are always in our hearts and we will be with you again one day soon.

Love,

List Family

He gives you the people you need...
To help you, to hurt you, to leave you,
to love you and to make you into the person
you were meant to be."
